Pre-Reg City Vehicles

In the modern world, owning an automobile is practically seen as a formality – particularly in the Western hemisphere – although strictly speaking a car is a luxury item. If we bring it down to the bare basics there aren’t many of us who couldn’t get on with life without a car. Public transport links have never been more frequent and accessible, while cycling lanes continue to be implemented throughout UK streets.

The issue many of us face is the monetary cost involved, which is compounded by the desire for a new car as opposed to a used one. Buying a pre-registered vehicle is a means by which to reduce the cost of a new car, and if you want the cheapest pre-registered vehicles then you need to look at the cars with the cheapest list prices in the first place – city cars.

So what are the best pre-registered city cars to look for and why?

Essentially it depends on your personal circumstances and what you are actually looking for from the car, including your budget. Then of course when you are shopping for a pre-registered vehicle you need a bit of luck to come across one that is right for you. Here are the city vehicles which we think make most sense to buy as pre-registered.

Skoda Citigo

The Skoda Citigo is one of the most popular city cars on the market and actually one of the cheapest too. It makes an especially attractive proposition for buyers on a budget because of the range of frugal engines that it is offered with. Not only are they economical in terms of their fuel consumption, but they also boast low emissions which means free road tax and more money saved. Look for pre-registered models at the start of the year and in early summer to find the best deals.

Volkswagen Up!

Sharing its platform with the aforementioned Citigo as well as the SEAT Mii, the Up! is effectively a rebranded alternative to its twin brother from the Czech Republic. You will have a little bit more difficulty finding a deal on this model as Volkswagen tends to be the more popular brand in the UK.

Dacia Sandero

Even when you are shopping for a car on a budget there will be certain criteria that you are looking for a car to meet, but if you want to look purely for monetary value then there is literally nothing to match the Sandero. Even as a brand new model you can pick one up for less than £6,000. You can expect a decent discount on this for a pre-registered car too, as it was only released a couple of years ago and as such there are very few second hand Dacia Sandero cars on the market.

Kia Picanto

There is no doubting what the Kia Picanto has to offer above all its competitors – superior warranty. In addition it is priced at a little over £8,000 from new, but beware of a small boot and a noisy cabin should you wish to venture outside of the city.
